Description
OPERATING MODE
The Vortec Grit Separator & Washer is designed to separate sand and grit from organic
materials contained in wastewater. Once wastewater enters the tank, the contents are
continuously stirred using rotating paddles mounted on a central shaft. This agitation process keeps lighter organic particles in suspension while allowing heavier inorganic materials such as sand and grit to settle toward the conical hopper at the bottom of the tank. The organics remain suspended and leave the system with the overflow stream. Settled grit accumulates in the bottom hopper and is extracted through an air-lift system, producing cleaner grit with reduced organic content for disposal.
- Why It Wins
Features & Benefits
Efficient Grit Washing
The agitation system effectively separates organic matter from grit, improving washing efficiency and reducing organic carryover in the discharged material.
Air-Lift Extraction System
Collected grit is removed through a reliable air-lift system that minimizes wear and reduces maintenance compared to conventional pumping systems.
Heavy-Duty Agitation Mechanism
The central shaft and paddle assembly continuously maintain proper mixing conditions to maximize grit washing performance.
Conical Hopper Design
The hopper geometry promotes efficient grit settling and storage before extraction, ensuring continuous operation and high separation efficiency.
Proven Low-Maintenance Design
The simple mechanical arrangement and rugged construction provide dependable operation while minimizing maintenance requirements and operating costs.
