Sand Washer
Sand washer consist of a tapered settling hopper equipped with an agitator and connected to an inclined shafted screw conveyor for grit extraction. Grit settles in the hopper, where the agitator keeps it in suspension and promotes effective washing. Clean water is injected at the bottom of the hopper in a counter-current flow, removing organic matter and other light impurities from the grit.
The upward flow carries the organic material to the surface, where it is discharged through a dedicated overflow outlet. Clarified wash water exits through a separate outlet located at the top of the hopper. Meanwhile, the cleaned grit settles to the bottom and is continuously conveyed by the screw conveyor to the discharge point for disposal or reuse. This process produces clean, dewatered grit while minimizing the organic content.

Description
OPERATING MODE
The sand-water mix enters a tapered settling hopper fitted with an agitator. As velocity drops, sand and heavy inorganic particles settle out while lighter organic material stays in suspension.
Clean water injected at the base rises against the settling grit, carrying organics up to a dedicated overflow. Clarified wash water leaves through a second outlet at the top, and an inclined screw lifts the washed grit out, draining as it climbs.
